General directions

From the South via A1

  • Follow the A1, A19, A168 to Stokesley
  • At the roundabout before Stokesley take the A173 to Great Ayton
  • Approx ½ mile turn right to Kildale
  • Stay on this road for approx 7 miles through Easby, Kildale to Commondale
  • At the bottom of the hill turn right after the Pub, down hill, under railway bridge
  • The Diving Duck is on the left immediately after the railway bridge.
  • From the South via York

  • Take the A64 to Malton
  • A169 to Pickering
  • A179 towards Thirsk
  • Through Middleton and Sinnington
  • Approx 2 miles after Sinnington take a right turn to Hutton-le-Hole
  • Stay on this road for approx 7 miles past the Lion Inn over Blakey Ridge
  • Enter Castleton
  • Take the 2nd left to Commondale immediately, before dropping into Castleton
  • Stay on this road until it drops down hill and over a river
  • The Diving Duck is immediately after the river on the right before the railway bridge
  • From the North

  • Take the A19 past Middlesborough
  • Take the A174 towards Redcar
  • At the 2nd junction take the B1365 to Stokesley
  • By-pass Stokesley to the next roundabout by taking Thirsk, Great Ayton road
  • At this roundabout take the A173 to Great Ayton
  • Approx ½ mile turn right to Kildale
  • Stay on this road for approx 7 miles through Easby, Kildale to Commondale
  • At the bottom of the hill turn right after the Pub, down hill, under the railway bridge
  • The Diving Duck is on the left immediately after the bridge.
  • From Whitby

  • Take the A171 towards Guisborough
  • Stay on this road for approx 10 miles passing the Scaling dam and Moorsholm turn offs
  • Take a left turn to Castleton and Hutton-le-Hole, just before the clump of trees and small reservoir
  • Take a right to Commondale
  • At the bottom of the hill turn left before the pub
  • Drop under the railway bridgeThe Diving Duck is immediately on the left.
